The convoy of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, was involved in a “minor accident” on Tuesday, on his way from Zaki-Biam.
Ortom had visted Zaki Biam, the headquarters of Ukum LGA, where some gunmen attacked and massacred over 50 persons on Monday.
According to an eye witness, “an oncoming vehicle, Carina 2, left its lane and hit the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, bus, which was on Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy”.
No life was, however, lost in the incident.
Our source said one occupant of the Carina car sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital on the directive of the Governor.
The State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kris Atsaka who was in the bus also sustained minor injuries.
Confirming the incidence to our Correspondent, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Terver Akase, said the Governor and other members of his entourage were unhurt.
“We give God thanks and praise for His intervention in the minor accident which occurred on our way back from Zaki-Biam this afternoon.
“The incident occurred about 4:30pm between Abakwa and Adi in Buruku local government area”, Akase said.
